Welcome to the Sustainable Schools East Midlands website.

This website is run by the RCE East Midlands Schools Working Group. It provides case studies and a directory of providers of support for schools wishing to undertake sustainability projects.

Education for sustainable development, global awareness and international perspectives are important because they equate with ‘good education’. Education which is broadening, exciting and engaging, enables learners to be sensitive to the environment and increases their understanding and commitment to their place in an interconnected world at local, national and global level.

An exciting dimension of work in these areas is the way in which learners engage with work. Learner’s feedback show that they are engaged, challenged and stimulated, and exciting learning like this, helps pupils learn well and make good progress, as well as develop as individuals.
